The Bridge runs on a Digital Learning Experience platform. Instead of storing courses, files and a gradebook, it keeps a live map of what each student can actually do — every claim backed by evidence, updated every time they demonstrate something, and portable when they leave.
A grade is a lossy summary of a person.
The learning management system was designed in the late 1990s to put a catalogue, a roster and a gradebook online. It solved that. It has not meaningfully changed since, and a letter grade still averages dozens of separate skills into one character — which lets strength in one area hide a total gap in another. Employers know this, which is why they screen candidates again themselves.

The difference is architectural, not a matter of features. The unit of record is not a course enrolment — it is a competency assertion: a durable, evidence-backed claim that a person can do a specific thing at a specific level. Everything else in the platform exists to generate, verify, improve, credential or act on those claims.

Being built in the open.
The adaptive assessment engine and the faculty authoring tools described here are built and running. The competency graph, the credential wallet and the employer-facing layer are in development, and the full architecture is a published reference design rather than a finished product. We would rather say that plainly than show you a roadmap as though it had already shipped.
